1966-03-03 Wiss Bldg Due For Renovation

Plans for modernizing the 10-story Wiss Building at 667 Broad St. at a cost of more than $150,000 were announced yesterday.

The J.I. Kislak Organization, which has been named managing agent for the Wiss Building and two adjoining properties at 661 and 673 Broad St., said completion is scheduled for July.

The Kislak firm was appointed by the directors and executive committee of Broad Street Investors Co. The corporation was organized by former investors in Wiss Building Associates, a real-estate syndicate which entered receivership. The reorganization plan was approved by Superior Court Judge Nelson K. Mintz of the Chancery Division.

Architect Retained

Broad Street Investors Co. has retained Architect Rudolph Kruger to draw specifications for modernizing the building exterior and renovating the lobby and corridors. The plans also call for installation of heavy duty, electrical wiring and other repairs.

The Wiss Building contains three stores and 34,200 square feet of office space. The renovation is expected to cost between $150,000 to $175,000.

The adjoining properties are the two-story Jordan Building, housing the Jordan ladies apparel shop and 4,000 square feet of offices, and the three-story building at 673 Broad St. occupied by Newark Drug Co. and Crown Tie Shops.
