In 1814 Jacob's parents moved to outside Solothurn to a large farm known as "The Rosegg," where Jacob was born in 1817.
In 1992 N Frederick Wiss and his wife made a trip to Solothurn, Switzerland. They went to the Wyss Papeterie and met Alfred Urs Josef Oskar Peter Wyss (went by Fredi, died 1997). As he didn't speak English, they hooked up with his third son, Oliver (born 1974). [First son was Alfred (1968) and second son was Patrick (1970)]. They spent the afternoon with Oliver. Oliver at 18 had been to America seven times! Today he is youth soccer coach with the Orange County Surf Soccer. He wanted to be the first Swiss to play soccer professionally in the US, but health issues derailed that: The Unbreakable Mr. Wyss.
The Rosegg was torn down to become part of a psychiatric hospital. On Google Maps.
