Description by J.K. Flynn: Imagery in this bucolic and rural farm scene, thrusts the viewer's eye directly on top of the creviced hilltop in the immediate foreground. The artist gets this effect by cropping a portion of a weathered, rust-red colored barn, whose pitched gable has the shape of a massive arrow forcing the eye of the viewer up into the deep, broad, clouded sky. Our eyes then, drop down steeply into the picture, past a line of pine trees, and roll out across the hilly meadow with a neighboring roadside barn. This compositional effect brings us further into the picture, and up over the dirt road past another tree-lined hilltop. This entire scheme works as a foil against the most stunning background of rocky-mountains surrounding two secluded mountain-top lakes.
