Labeled "First Car." The car was probably purchased in the first quarter of 1919, after Norman [Sr] returned home from the war. It was most likely a gift from his father to the couple. The Moon Car Club identified this as a 1919 6-46 Moon "Victory" Touring Car with optional wire wheels, instead of the wood spoke wheels. The split windshield, the two windows in the back of the top, and the headlights, were characteristics of this Moon versus the bigger 6-66 model. Wikipedia on Moon Motor Car.
The crescent moon radiator cap is not present. Bumpers and rear view mirror were not standard with this car. The dealer added the the ones seen here. [Dealer not known, but none known were in Newark.]
This shows the optional wire wheels. From an ad on page 74 of Motor Age (a publication targeted for those people working on their own vehicles, as well as those who fixed cars for a living), October 9, 1919. Also see scan of photo back.
Showing the car with the top down. And it shows the radiator cap nicely.
