Bridegroom-Elect, Graduate of Phillips Andover and Yale, Is in the Signal Corps

Mr. and Mrs. William Summey Coulter of Greensboro, N. C., have announced here the engagement of their daughter, Ann to Corp. Norman Frederick Wiss Jr., Army Signal Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiss of Short Hills, N.J.

Miss Coulter was graduated from the Dwight School, Englewood, N.J., in 1939, attended Smith College and she studied art with Raphael Soyer and at the Art Students League of New York. In 1940 she made her debut at the Debutante Ball in Raleigh, N.C. She is an engineering aide with the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation on Long Island.

The prospective bride is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Summey Coulter and of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Long Jr. of Graham, N. C. Her great-grand-father, Dr. William S. Long, was founder and first president of Elon College in North Carolina.

Corporal Wiss was graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and from the Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University, in 1942. Before enlisting in the Signal Corps he was an engineer with the Western Electric Company in Kearny, N. J. He is a grandson of Mrs. Frederick C. J. Wiss of East Orange and the late Mr. Wiss, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Hugh Sommer of Newark and East Orange.
