Scotch Plains – Mrs. Edith Sinon Stepniak, 32, wife of Thaddeus M. Stepniak, died yesterday (March 22, 1959) in Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, after a short illness.
Born in Maplewood, Mrs. Stepniak attended schools there. She was graduated from the Putney School, Putney, Vt., and from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Frederick W. Sinon, and a brother, Frederick W. Sinon Jr., both of Maplewood, and two sisters, Mrs. Carl Sayer of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Paul Merrigan of Newport, N.H.
Private funeral services will be held from Smith and Smith Suburban, Springfield, where friends may call from 7-9 today.

A granddaughter of Louis Wiss, founder of the Wiss Sons, Inc., jewelry firm, she was born in Maplewood and moved to Scotch Plains 18 months ago. Mrs. Stepniak attended the Putney School, Putney, Vt., and was graduated from Bard College, Annandale, N.Y.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Gretchen Wiss Sinon of Maplewood; a brother, Frederick W. Sinon Jr. of Maplewood, and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Merrigan of Newport, N.H. and Mrs. Carl Sayer of Beaumont, Tex.
Elizabeth–The estate of Mrs. Edith S. Stepniak of 536 Hunter Ave., Scotch Plains, was valued at $160,000, according to papers filed in the surrogate's office yesterday. She died March 22, at the age of 32. She left no will.
Her husband, Thaddeus M. Stepniak, sought permission to administer the estate. Because the couple had no children, the entire estate, which is mostly in the stock of J. Wiss & Son, Newark, will go to the husband.
Mrs. Stepniak, was heiress to a share of the Wiss business, and a great granddaughter of Jacob Wiss, who founded the cutlery manufacturing firm in Newark more than 100 years ago.
She was the granddaughter of Louis Wiss, founder of the Wiss Jewelry store in Newark. She was on the sales staff at the store. Her husband is a load planner for United Air Lines at Newark Airport.
N.B. After Edith's death, Thaddeus Stepniak, at age 39, retired from his job with United. He died 12 years later, in 1971.
