Jerome W. Lyford of Gladwyne died Oct. 20, 1998. He was 52.
Born in Norwalk, Conn., he was the son of Cornelia Degerberg and the late Roger T. Lyford. He graduated from Harriton High School and attended Lycoming College.
He served in Vietnam from 1966 to July 1969 with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. During his 32-month Army career, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal for acts of heroism. He also was awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds received in action.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cornelia and Robert Degerberg of Gladywne; brothers, Phillip Lyford of Conshohocken, Gunnar Degerberg of Nashville, Tenn.; sisters Rebecca Newman of Nashville, Katherine Degerberg of Baltimore, Md., amd Mary Leyden of Havertown.
A funeral service was private.
