Patek Philippe Watch Given by Sam Briskman to Robert F. Wagner Jr.
Patek Philippe, Genève, Calatrava, ref 2507, circa 1953, manual wind, 33mm x 37mm to lug tips, 18mm lug width, original 18K yellow gold snap back case, engraved presention that reads "To Bob from Sam Briskman, Dec, 24th, 1953", shortly after Robert was elected Mayor of New York City, leather strap, original champagne dial with textured central portion and black painted baton indices, 18J cal 10-200, Geneva Seal, movement s#740373, case s#678159, triple signed. The personal watch of the former Mayor of New York City and the US Ambassador to Spain Robert F. Wagner. One is rarely able to tie so closely a watch with its original owner, especially one with such an illustrious carrer in politics. It is fascinating to think of the places this watch has been and the hands it has shook ranging from the late President Kennedy and LBJ to Frank Sinatra and so many others. [Since Wagner wore it on his left wrist, it is unlikely that the watch shook hands with anyone.]
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide; excellent-plus dial with only light surface spotting; excellent-plus hands; original head shows very little wear, original hand engraved presentation on caseback shows little wear to detail, no dents or dings; original Calatrava cross crown shows very little wear; good plastic crystal.
