Wiss Razors with Style Letters or Numbers
They went through the alphabet twice for these. For the second there is a 2 stamped before the letter on the tang. Some Style letters were dropped along the way. These were sold by the dozen. You picked your handle and then had a choice of 48 regular blades (3 concavities, 4 sizes, 4 points).
Style A Black Wave Handle
The Wave style is common, but rarely does it show up in black. It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 41 and 1912 page 54. This one passed through eBay in December 2009.
Style B Black Bead Handle
In white this is a very common handle. It appears as Style I and under a couple names. It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 42 and 1912 page 55. This item passed through eBay in May 2010. Another passed through in March 2008.
Style E White Wave Handle
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 44 and 1912 page 57. This one passed through eBay in May 2010.
Style F White Scroll Handle
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 44 and 1912 page 57. This item passed through eBay in February 2010. Others passed through in January 2009, April 2009, and July 2010.
Style G - White Bead Handle
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 45 and 1912 page 58. The razor comes in the original box. There are some small nicks and a small chip at the end of the blade. Some spots on the blade. The scales look real good, have a great patina, no cracks, a few minor surface scratches and a small chip on the underside of scale where the blade goes in (see picture). The blade is 5/8" with Very Thin Concave. This is the first razor in my collection. Bought on eBay April 2011. Others passed through eBay in February 2008, December 2008, October 2010, and March 2011.
Style H White Ribbed Handle
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 45 and 1912 page 58. This one passed through eBay in January 2010.
Style I Imitation Ivory
A very common style. It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 46 and 1912 page 59. This newer one has a cloud logo. This item passed through eBay in June 2011. Others passed through March 2009, October 2009, March 2010, January 2011, April 2011, and September 2011.
Style M Knotted Antique Ivory with Logo
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 48 and 1912 page 61. This item passed through eBay in December 2009. Others passed through in July 2011 and January 2012. They did not have logos.
Style S Oval Bone Buckeye Burl
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 51 and 1912 page 63. I suspect the rivets have been replaced on this one. This item passed through eBay in February 2011.
Style T Yellow Bone
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 51 and 1912 page 63. This item passed through eBay in August 2011 and sold for $4.99.
Style W Stag Handle
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 53 and 1912 page 65. This item passed through eBay in February 2010. Others passed through in July 2010 and January 2011.
Style X Translucent
The Style X does not appear in either catalog. The letter is skipped over. The logo on the tang is an old style. Apparently the Style X was discontinued by 1907. This has an X 46 stamped on the tang. It is a 6/8" Medium Thin Concave blade. This item passed through eBay in April 2011. Other pink ones passed through eBay in August 2008, July 2011, and August 2011.
Style 2C Flat White Bone
It appears in one catalog: 1912 page 67. It is one of the few styles made with a natural material. This item passed through eBay in February 2010.
Style 2D Black Fancy Design
It appears in one catalog: 1912 page 67. This item passed through eBay in August 2009.
Style 2F Koko Bolo Silver Tipped
It appears in one catalog: 1912 page 67. This item passed through eBay in November 2010.
Style 2H Flat Oak Handle
This razor has a 5/8" Thin Concave blade with a Hollow Point. This appears in only one catalog: 1912 page 68. This style did not come with a case. The tang does not have the cloud logo and the case does. Very possibly the case is newer. This item sold on eBay in November 2011 for $31.00 + $3.75.
Style 2L White Oval Silver Tipped
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 48 and 1912 page 61. This item passed through eBay in March 2011.
Style 2R Fancy Antique Shell
It appears in one catalog: 1912 page 69. This item passed through eBay in June 2011.
Style 2U Flat Pearl Finish
It appears in one catalog: 1912 page 69. This item passed through eBay in February 2010.
Style 2V 45 Oval Shell Silver Tipped
It appears in the catalogs: 1907 page 53 and 1912 page 65. This item passed through eBay in May 2010.
