1945-10-24 Reports Adjustment Plant Pay

Officials of the Wiss Employees' Independent Union said today the membership has accepted an offer from the company to compromise demands for a wake [sic] increase. The union represents 300 workers at J. Wiss & Sons, Littleton avenue cutlery manufacturers.

The employees had asked a 15 percent increase among other things. A union spokesman said the company had agreed to grant a 7½ per cent raise and give six paid holidays a year plus the usual Christmas bonus.

A new schedule of longer vacations on a sliding scale depending on length of service will be included in the new contract, the union official said.
