1945-10-17 Cutlery Firm Gets Strike Notice

Members of the Wiss Employees' Independent Union, representing 90 per cent of the 300 workers at J. Wiss & Sons, Littleton avenue cutlery manufacturers, last night voted to walk out Monday if their demands for a 15 per cent wage increase straight across the board are not met by the company by Friday.

Henry Schmid, union president, said the members had rejected a 5 per cent offer by the company.
