1952-03-11 Probe Continues Of Missing Rings

East Orange detectives today were still seeking to determine how a tray of 11 diamond rings valued at $225 to $500 each disappeared from the Wiss Jewelry Store at 554 Central avenue, East Orange, Friday night. The loss of the rings was discovered Saturday after the 12th ring in the tray was found on the floor of the store.

Detective Lieutenant Patterson said the investigation was hampered because the loss was not reported to police until some 24 hours later due to the fact the disappearance of the rings was not realized at the time. George FitzGerald, store manager, was ill and his replacement was not familiar with the stock, police said.
