Miss Joan Wiss of South Orange Is Bride of Karl William Corby

Miss Joan Wiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Wiss of Grove road, South Orange, became the bride last night of Karl William Corby, son of Mrs. Calvert G. Bowie of Rockville, Md., and the late Karl W. Corby. The ceremony was performed at the Church of the Holy Communion, South Orange, by Rev. Eric Tasman. There was a reception at Baltusrol Golf Club.

The bride's sister Mrs. Waldron M. Ward Jr. and Miss Margaret Wheaton were her honor attendants. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Richard Wiss, sister-in-law of the bride, Mrs. Parker Schoefield and the Misses Barbara Goldsmith, Jane Miller and Nancy Wiss, the bride's cousin. Charles Channing was best man and ushers included Charles Camalier Philip Bowie, Maurice Nee, Josiah Flournoy, Donald D. Kneessi, Edward Castle, Richard R. Wiss, Mr. Ward and Richer Mitchell.

The bride's gown of candlelight satin, made on Balenciaga lines, had a sweetheart neckline trimmed with self satin in baroque design. Her Juliet cap and long rosepoint veil were held by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of what orchids and bouvardia, with yellow Japanese orchids blending with the yellow and white color scheme of her attendant's gowns.

Attendants Gowned Alike

The attendants were gowned alike in ivory faille with bouffant shirts and drop shoulder and sweetheart necklines. They wore velvet headdresses, with long streamers trimmed with shaggy yellow chrysanthemums. The honor attendants crescent bouquets were of a Japanese variety of yellow chrysanthemums, and the bridesmaids carried similar bouquets of a darker shade.

The bridal party received under a white arch from which hung white lace wedding bells and a profusion of real orange blossoms and shower of white satin ribbons. The same decorative effect was used over the bridal table.

The bride is a graduate of Miss Beard's School and Sarah Lawrence College. Mr. Corby attended Cornell University. The couple left today by plane for California and upon their return will live in Washington.
