Joan Wiss Has 7 Attendants at Her Wedding In South Orange Church to Karl W. Corby

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., Oct. 31 –Miss Joan Wiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert Wiss of this community, was married here tonight to Karl William Corby, son of Mrs. Calvert G. Bowie of Rockville, Md., and the late Mr. Karl William Corby, in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion by the rector, the Rev. Eric M. Tasman. Cybotium ferns decorated the church, and yellow chrysanthemums were used on the altar with tall cathedral candles and garlands of flowers down the center aisle.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of candlelight satin, trimmed with satin and a coronet of orange blossoms holding in place her rosepoint lace veil, which fell to the end of the long train. She carried a bouquet of lilies of valley, white orchids and bouvardia.

Mrs. Waldron M. Ward of Livingston, N.J., was her sister's matron of honor, and Miss Margaret Wheaton of Maplewood was maid of honor. Other attendants were Mrs. Richard R. Wiss of East Orange, sister-in-law of the bride; Miss Barbara Goldsmith of Maplewood, Miss Jane Miller of Pelham, N.Y.; Mrs. Parker Schoefield of Cohasset, Mass., and the bride's cousin, Miss Nancy Wiss of Orange.

The attendants were attired in deep ivory faille bouffant gowns, wore yellow velvet headdresses trimmed with matching Japanese chrysanthemums and carried crescent bouquets of the same flowers. Charles Channing of Chevy Chase, Md., was best man. Ushers were Charles Camalier, Philip Bowie, Maurice Nee, Josiah Flournoy and Donald D. Kneessi of Washington, D.C.; Edward Castle of Oshkosh, Wis.; Richer Mitchell of Ithaca, N.Y.; Mr. Ward and the bride's brother, Richard R. Wiss.

A reception was given at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Corby will leave tomorrow by plane for California. On their return they will live in Washington, D.C.

The bride is a graduate of Miss Beard's School, Orange, and Sarah Lawrence College. Mr. Corby attended Cornell University.
