Mrs. F. Taylor of Short Hills; was Wiss kin

Mrs. Florence Wiss Taylor of 84 Farley Rd., Short Hills member of the Millburn ration board during World War II and a former president of the Board of Education, died yesterday in her home.

Mrs. Taylor, widow of Dr. William Denton Taylor, a Newark dentist, had been active in several civic organizations.

She served on the school board for nine years during the 1930s, and was president during the final year. Mrs. Taylor also served as president of Millburn's Neighborhood House, the Garden Study Club of Short Hills and the Wellsley Club of New Jersey. At her death, she was chairman of the fund drive for the Wellsley class of 1910.

Mrs. Taylor had served as chairman of the ladies' golf committees at the Baltusrol golf club, Springfield. She was a member of the Pinehurst, N.C., golf club.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Newark, and moved to Short Hills in 1928. She was the daughter of the late Frederick C.J. Wiss, who founded the Wiss Cutlery Co., of Newark. She was graduated from Barringer high school before attending Wellsley.

She is survived by two sons, Frederick F. of Madison and William S. of Summit, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m., at the Suburban Home of Smith and Smith, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield.
