Richard R. Wiss, Had Cutlery Firm

MANTOLOKING, Richard R. Wiss, 61 Channel La., died Saturday.

He was a resident of Short Hills before moving here six months ago.

He was the retired president and director of J. Wiss & Sons Co., Newark, a cutlery company founded in 1848.

He was vice president of Robert Treat Council, Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the board of trustees of United Fund, Essex and West Hudson counties. He was a former director of the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce, and had been a member of the executive committee of the American Hardware Manufacturers Association.

He was chairman of the Government Specifications and Relation Committee of Hand Tools Institute for three years and was a member of the board of managers of Howard Savings Bank, Newark. He was a member of the board and past vice commodore of the Bay Head Yacht Club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Drake; a son, R. Garin, Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Gail Heyer, Bay Head, and Mrs. Linda Trinkaus, Warrensburg, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth W. Ward, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Karl W. Corby, Washington, D.C.; and six grandchildren.

The Smith and Smith Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.
