Frederick D. Wiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. Wiss of Oaklawn road, was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve at Quantico, Virginia, after completing training at Parris Island and Camp LeJuene. He is a graduate of Choate School, and enlisted in the Marines in his freshman year at Yale but was not called to active duty until his senior year.

Lt. Wiss will fly to Los Angeles today where he will visit a fellow officer. Lt. Robert Wirt, after which he will report to Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California.

Two brothers, Sergeant Norman Wiss, Jr. has been in the Pacific for 17 months where he is attached to the 4th Air Depot group and Sergeant Kenneth B. Wiss who is enroute to the Pacific with a Combat Engineer battalion.
