At the 37th annual meeting of the New Jersey Manufacturers Association, held at Atlantic City on May 6 and 7, Norman F. Wiss of Oak Lawn road, was elected vice-president of the association.

Mr. Wiss is vice-president and treasurer of J. Wiss & Sons Company of Newark, which has been manufacturing shears, scissors and allied products for over one hundred years.

Mr. Wiss is a lifetime resident of New Jersey. He was born in Newark and is a graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He held a commission in the first World War, following which he entered the business established by his father. During the NRA period, Mr. Wiss was on the NRA Enforcement section in the State of New Jersey. During the second World War, he was appointed a member of the Consumers Durable Goods Advisory Council and served on Federally created Labor Boards, in addition to acting as a member of the local Draft Board.

The Wiss Company and family have been active in the affairs of the New Jersey Manufacturers Association since its inception. Frederick C.J. Wiss, father of Norman Wiss, was a member of the first formal Board of Trustees organized in 1914 and remained active in the affairs of the Association until his death in October of 1931. Mr. Norman Wiss has been a key member of the Association since 1932.
