Wiss Razors With Etched Names
The models with names etched onto the blades only came in one configuration. Some of the c1915 models included a leather case. There is no pattern to the names and what you get. And they changed. Names in 1907 are completely different razors in 1915. This section also includes a few that have names and were not found in the catalogs.
Aristocrat
The word Aristocrat is stamped on the tang. This model does not appear in either catalog. This one passed through eBay in December 2008. Others passed through in June 2009 and March 2010.
Our Best Sure Grip
The "Our Best" name does not appear in either catalog. The blades on this one are 5/8" wide. This one passed through eBay in July 2010.
Sure Comfort White Bead Handle 1907
This is a very popular handle style. Most were sold as Style G. This appears on page 39 of the 1907 catalog. In 1912 this style was called Wiss Superior. This one passed through eBay in April 2011.
Wiss Best Fancy Antique Handle and Tang
This can be found on page 38 in the 1907 catalog. This was the most expensive razor in the 1907 catalog. The Wiss Best had a plain flat handle in 1912. This item passed through eBay in April 2010.
Wiss Best plain yellow + pouch
This can be found on page 52 in the 1912 catalog. The pouch is also pictured. The Wiss Best had a fancy antique handle and tang in 1907. This item passed through eBay in June 2010.
Wiss Best Vine Handles
The Wiss Best variant is not in either of the catalogs. It has fancy antique tangs, which would date this to being a style used prior to 1907. Like the 1907 one, this was most likely the most expensive razor that they sold. This item passed through eBay in February 2010. One without the paint sold on eBay for $37 including shipping in October 2011.
Wiss Favorite No Logo + Case
The Wiss Favorite was one of the models that included a leather case in 1912. It is pictured on page 52 of the catalog. This has no logo on the tang and is earlier than the other pictured here. This item passed through eBay in June 2011.

Wiss Perfection Fancy Antique Handle and Tang
This appears on page 48 of the 1912 catalog. This was the most expensive razor in the 1912 catalog. The Wiss Perfection was not listed in 1907. This item passed through eBay in November 2010.
Wiss Special Black Flat Handle Logo
This appears on page 53 of the 1912 catalog. Pictured is an example of one with a logo. In 1907 this name was used for the White Wave pattern. This item passed through eBay in March 2009.

Wiss Special Black Flat Handle Sure Grip + Case
This appears on page 53 of the 1912 catalog. It was sold with a case. Pictured is an example with a Sure Grip blade. The logo on the tang implies this variant is after the 1912 catalog. The number on the tang is not visible in any picture. In 1907 this name was used for the White Wave pattern. This item passed through eBay in June 2011.
Wiss Special Imitation Ivory Oval Silver Tipped 464
This is not in any catalog. This has the Wiss logo stamped on the tang, making it after the c1912 catalog. No catalog lists the 464 on the tang. The blade is a Sure Grip. The 400 series appears to be from a Sure Grip series with an alternate blade shape. Or the numbers used with a name etched on the blade. This item passed through eBay in May 2011.
Wiss Special Wave Antique Handle 1907
This appears on page 39 of the 1907 catalog. In 1912 the Wiss Special was flat black with a leather case. This item passed through eBay in October 2010.
Wiss Superior White Bead Handle
This is a very popular handle style. Most were sold as Style G. This appears on page 49 of the c1912 catalog. In 1907 this style was called Sure Comfort. The pictured item was first listed on eBay in March 2011. It has been hanging around with a high price for many months.
Wiss Sure Comfort Brown Zebra Striped Handle
The Wiss Sure Comfort was usually sold with a flat black handle. This appears to be an upgraded handle. The tang has the Wiss logo. This item passed through eBay in February 2011.
Wiss Sure Comfort Razor Black Handle
The stamping on this Wiss Sure Comfort Razor is not all visible but the black scales are clean, free of chips and cracks and the pins, blade, shank, fluting and tang are also clean and shiny. The fluting is on both the under and upper parts of the shank and is very apparent on both sides and especially deep on the top of the shank. The blade measures 3" by 5/8" and the overall length is 6 5/8". The back of the blade is plain. The shank shows "J. Wiss & Sons, Newark NJ" The razor has been on a shelf for approximately 30 years and the blade will need to be honed and smoothed.
