Wiss Family Residences (2nd - 4th Generations)
By the end of the 1920s all of the Wiss family had moved out of Newark. They all would have had cars. (Louis had one by 1900, FCJ probably did also.) Many had chaufeurs. The suburbs beckoned. They wanted houses with more land. Two families bought more than one lot.
The residences in Short Hills include real estate records, some of which date to the 1930s or 1940s, were formerly owned and used by a Maplewood real estate office that was closing. The Short Hills entries were scanned by The Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society.

- Florence Wiss Taylor and William Denton Taylor [Married April 1913]
- William Denton's dental office was at 487 Orange St, Newark through 1922. In 1923 he was at 9 Fulton St, Newark. [neither building extant]
- 112 N. 9th, Roseville, Newark. Prior to marriage, William Denton was here, at the home of his parents: William A. Taylor, ins. [building was replaced]
- 95 N. 9th St, Roseville, Newark [first residence after wedding. 1913-1916] But the large building on the lot now was built in 1925. So some prior building.
- 44 N. 10th St, Roseville, Newark [1916-1927]
- 76/84 Farley Road, Short Hills [moved to in 1928]
- Initial street number used was 76 (where the original driveway started from). The property started with much more land, likely 10 acres. Much was sold off in the early 1950s (after William Denton died). Then Florence sold the side lot to a friend (which took number 78).
In 2009 the house was listed for sale at $2,950,000 with 2.55 acres of land. After a few weeks the listing was removed. Around 2018, the house was torn down and the remaining property split into two lots. The wide house was in the way of the driveway to the back flag lot. Both lots, the front (called 90), and the back (called 84), have been built on.
